2025-26 giving season
2026 recipients
Fifty-one people living with ALS and their families, nearly all in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, received grants in the 2025-26 season: caregiving hours, medical equipment, home renovations, accessible vans and memory-making trips.

What the grants made possible
A few of the 51 families the foundation supported in 2026, shared with their permission.

Chad Poteat
Mount Airy, NC
Home renovations and a memory-making trip
Chad’s grant is renovating a bedroom, a bathroom and the doorways of his home in Mount Airy. It also sent five of his family to Key West for two days of fishing charters, for a man who had qualified for a professional fishing league the year before his diagnosis.

Lisa Johns
Inman, SC
Memory-making trip
Lisa lives with her son, who is her full-time caregiver, and all three of her children are part of her team. Her grant took the whole family on a trip together, with a day at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

Sue Cole
Summerville, SC
Medical equipment
Sue found her happy place on the glider at physical therapy: standing up and moving her arms and legs while fully supported. Her grant put one in her home so she can use it every day.
Help the next family
Every grant starts with a gift. Donations fund caregiving, equipment, renovations and trips like these.
